2019 Intentions

It’s that time again. Setting intentions for the next year, in order to push yourself to be better, strong, and smarter. This is the first time in awhile that I’ve been truly inspired; it’s be a difficult few months. I lost my last living grandparent, I’ve struggled with weight loss, and navigated personal drama. Regardless, when you struggle your true character shows. I’m proud to say that 2018 molded me into a happy and healthy person, ready to take on whatever 2019 has in store. Without further ado, see my intentions for next year below.

  1. Volunteer more time to my local community, Chicago. Devoting my time and limited means to the causes that inspire me. I’m considering becoming a Big Sister, volunteering at women’s shelters, reading to underprivileged youth, and serving the homeless. Everyone can help someone.
  2. Build a stronger body and a mind to match. Over the last year, I’ve continued my weight loss and lost a total of 40+ pounds. Which is crazy, like what? I feel like an entirely different person physically. Mentally, not so much. I would love to rebuild some muscle and grow my confidence in 2019. My intention was never to be skinny and nothing else. I’d rather be strong.
  3. Pay off my credit card debt. Like many recent grads, we’re just focused on paying the bills and living a respectable life. Buying groceries every week, going out to eat, and travel take $$$. I’m setting a priority to pay these small debts off.
  4. Start networking and growing my career in Chicago. I take pride in my professional career, but I’ve gotten to the point where I’m comfortable. Let’s change that, shall we? Continue to work hard, but build something greater through networking in the advertising industry and exploring more education opportunities to contribute to my skill set.
  5. Go blonde. You telling me not to, only makes me want to more!!
  6. Move to a one bedroom apartment. As much as I LOVE my current studio apartment, I think I’ve outgrown it after nearly three years. This summer I will be moving!
  7. Travel to see friends and family. I have some best friends that have moved to some incredible places, that, until now, I haven’t had the means or time to visit. In 2019, I’m making it a priority to visit California and Charleston!
  8. Last, but not least. Stop any drama in it’s tracks. you never know how spreading rumors or taking behind someones back will affect that person’s life. Keeping that in mind, I’m going to try my darnedest to not to spread the hate, and refocus on kindness.
