Who says white after Labor Day is tacky? Not I! Nothing makes me happier than getting more use out of seasonal staples. White jeans are no exception. A summer favorite, transitioned seamlessly to fall. Sharing some tips below on pulling off white jeans throughout autumn.
- Consider pairing white jeans, with a more traditional fall staple like a chunky knit, for example, to balance everything out. I love a cable knit or a ribbed knit (like in this photo) in a more relaxed fit. If your pair of white jeans are high-waisted, you could opt for a more cropped knit to flatter your waist. Or, like in this photo, pair any rise jeans with a tunic style to get that effortless look.
- Swap out your summer sandals for a pair of suede booties or over-the-knee boots. This pair goes perfectly with my Hinge booties, because of the cropped raw hem, that shows a little bit of ankle. They’re not too long (which can look awkward) to flatter your legs and make them look a mile long. Feel free to cuff your jeans to bring the hem up, to customize each combination of jeans to shoes.
- Pair bright white bottoms with a rich color on top that flatters your hair and skin tone best. This deep orange sweater it taken to the next level against a pure white. I love a good pair of black denim with this, but it’s such a statement look with white. I’m obsessed! Other colors that would pair nicely: dark olive green, navy blue, cognac, or burgundy.
- If you’re really feeling like taking it to the next level, I’m completely obsessed with white jeans paired with a off-white knit. It’s a very Manhattan fashion vibe, and I live for it. For the adventurous ones!
- In addition to knits, I love putting white jeans with a button-down or t-shirt with a jacket over top. Same color rules still apply, just through different items. Recently I paired my white denim with a taupe crew neck sweater and cognac corduroy jacket and it made me look like I had put so much thought into the outfit, when really I got dressed haphazardly in 5 minutes. Love it when things work out like that.
- Taking care of your white denim into the fall season: Be sure to continue to wash with like colors and add bleach when things start to look dingy. Lay flat to dry so you’re not shrinking or damaging your denim.
See, white denim doesn’t clock out after Labor day. If anything, it gets a new life when the leaves start to change! I highly recommend you bring your pair out and start working it into all your autumnal looks. Jeans are an everyday staple, comfy, casual, and go with everything. White denim is no different!
Happy styling!
