What Trends I’m Buying Into Pt.1

So I heard a rumor that it is officially “spring,” but clearly Chicago doesn’t agree because it’s currently 36 degrees Fahrenheit and cloudy. Even still, I’m fully on board with all the spring looks saturating Instagram lately. I’m only allowing myself to buy transitional pieces right now, so no more sweaters for me.

Whenever the seasons change, I start to panic because, in my mind, I have NOTHING to wear ever. To resolve this inner monologue and ease my anxiety, I start prepping for Spring and Fall early. I follow so many bloggers and subscribe to multiple fashion magazines, so I like to think that I have my finger on the pulse point of seasonal trends (please don’t roast me.) After a few weeks (or days) of browsing, I am able pick and chose what I like and then purchase key pieces within said trends. Here’s what I’m buying into this season, some of which can be found in the photos below.

  • Bold Stripes. I’m not talking about thin-barely-there stripes. I’m talking stripes that are thick like a good piece of bacon. This trend is reflected in my spring wardrobe (seen below) via a Zara short sleeve sweater shell with navy and cream stripes. In love!!
  • Light Wash Boyfriend Jeans. Admittedly, it took me a while to get on board with this one. I never thought BF jeans looked good on me, but this Zara pair changed the game for me. I learned that it’s all in the fit. You want them to fit right around your waist so they still flatter your hips and butt (I giggled when I typed that haha *butts*), but still are loose around your legs to give the relaxed feel. Pretty much every brand that makes jeans has a boyfriend cut, so get on it people!
  • Trench Coats. Okay, I hear you, this is pretty pedestrian. Like of course trench coats are a trend for spring. In spring it rains a lot, cue trench coat. BUT hear me out. Wear your trench as a dress to stroll around in, or wear is open over a dress, or over your shoulders to show off your whole outfit. This one is a no brainer, so if you don’t have one, what are you even doing bro? I got an updated style from ASOS, linked in my sidebar faves.
  • White Shoes. I remember in college, white Converse were HUGE. If you didn’t have low top, white Converse sneakers, you weren’t anybody. I still have mine, but this season I also invested in a nice pair of white leather slip ons that I can wear anywhere from the office to the beach. So versatile! Fave pair linked over there ->>
  • Overalls. I’m still on the hunt for the perfect pair or medium wash short overalls. I’m so into the casual vibe that still makes you look trendy. Slap on a classic tee and some vans and I’m basically a California teenager that surfs on the weekend, has 14k followers, and wears rings on their index finger. No? It could happen!
  • Hats. I’m here for the hat trend that is taking over Instagram lately. Hats that look vintage and belong on a newspaper boy’s head in the 40’s. I’ve linked my favorite “Fiddlers” cap in the sidebar. Post coming soon! This trend might not be everyones cup of tea, but I live for it. And hey, that’s all the matters! Such an easy way to switch up your look, especially if you’re having a bad hair day.

Anyways, those are the major trends I’m buying into this spring. I’m looking forward to sharing all of these with you in picture form soon. Thanks for reading!
